About Steve

Steve's History with PKD

Steve was diagnosed with Autosomal Dominant PKD when he was a student at Cal Poly. His father had recently been diagnosed so they checked Steve and unfortunately he had inherited PKD. He started blood pressure medication in his early 30s. In 2006 he survived the rupture of a brain aneurysm three months after the birth of his first child. Over the last several years he has experienced rapid kidney function decline and is now down to an eGFR of 9 which is roughly equivalent to 9% kidney function. Steve is on the wait list for a kidney at Stanford. The average wait for a deceased donor kidney is 6 to 8 years. His father died while on dialysis so we are hoping to find Steve a kidney as soon as possible!
